Morrison Backflow Testing (MBT) and Morrison Education & Training (MET) - Who We Are and What We Do
Meet the Morrisons
Colleen Morrison – The Advocate & Business Leader
Colleen Morrison is the powerhouse behind MBT’s business operations. A certified tester herself, she oversees our administration team, customer service, and compliance. Her leadership ensures that MBT and MET operates with honesty, efficiency, and full compliance with CDPHE regulations.
As the Chair of the Backflow Association of Colorado (BAC), Colleen is also a dedicated advocate for small businesses and certified backflow technicians’ right to test and repair backflow assemblies, something gravely threatened at present.
Daniel Morrison – The Field Expert and Educator
While Colleen leads in the office, Daniel Morrison is the heart of our field operations. As a dual certified (ABPA & ASSE) backflow prevention assembly tester, ABPA cross-connection control specialist, and primary instructor for our education and training courses, Danny stays at the forefront of the industry--ensuring that every Morrison test, repair, and class meets the highest standards.
House Bill Information
Last year when HB24-1344: Sunset Plumbing Board was up for renewal, an amendment was added mandating certified backflow technicians also hold either a master plumber or journeyworker license in order to inspect, test, and repair backflow prevention assemblies. This unnecessary restriction threatens the livelihood of certified backflow testers, could increase costs for businesses and residents alike, and risks widespread noncompliance with water safety regulations due to a shortage of qualified professionals. The Department of Regulatory Agencies will start enforcing this law April 1st, 2025, devastating our industry unless this can be addressed properly and swiftly by the Colorado General Assembly.
Colleen Morrison and the BAC are working alongside water purveyors and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to help pass Colorado HB25-1077: Backflow Prevention Devices Requirements, which offers the best permanent solution by restoring Colorado’s backflow testing system to the way it was before HB24-1344.
